Two jailed for Schuylkill theft

Two men were jailed early Wednesday, Jan. 5, for a theft incident in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said about 2:50 a.m. troopers responded to a report of the theft of a tow-along compressor from Diversified Technologies, 100 block of Lakeside Ave., in Delano Township. A witness observed the theft and followed the suspect vehicle. While following the vehicle the witness contacted state police.Troopers arrived on scene and made a stop of the suspect vehicle along Catawissa Road in Ryan Township.The two men inside the vehicle were identified as Mel Gerber, 38, of Tamaqua, and Tyler Tyson, 19, of New Ringgold. The two were taken into custody and charged with theft and related counts. The two were arriagned before duty District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah. The two were later committed to the county prison in Pottsville when they failed to post $5,000 straight cash bail each.The owner of the compressor was identified as Gary Seward, 57, of Barnesville, troopers said.
