A PPL transformer was shot and damaged in an incident in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said the incident occurred along the Burma Road, about three miles north of Saint Clair, in Blythe Township.

Troopers said the transformer, which was attached to a utility pole, was shot twice which caused the oil coolant inside to leak out. This caused the transformer to burn up. The electricity was lost to a nearby Verizon cellular tower, troopers said.

The incident occurred around 7 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6. PPL crews responded to the scene and replaced the transformer.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 874-5300.
