Paper road problems

As his wife, Mary, looks on, Andrew Swider Jr. hands Lansford borough council president Adam Webber photos of the area behind the couple's East Ridge Street home. The photos show the damage done by a neighbor who the Swider's say deliberately drives across the area, which they mow and maintain. The parcel, called a "paper road," is owned by the borough. a paper road is one that the borough does not maintain; it exists as a road only on maps. The area is not needed for access, as East Snyder Avenue runs parallel to it on the opposite side of the tree line. The Swiders on Wednesday asked council what can be done to prevent people from driving over the area. Council authorized solicitor Michael Greek to research the matter. In the background are Mayor Ron Hood and Councilman Andrew Snyder.
