Five incumbent Tamaqua school directors win
Five incumbent members of the Tamaqua Area School board won both nominations of the Republican and Democratic parties and assured themselves of another four year term.
There were five candidates seeking the four spots and all cross-filed.
On the Republican side the winning order follows Wanda Y. Zuber 1,545, Robert W. Betz 1,515, Eileen A. Meiser 1,489, Daniel E. Schoener 1,478 and Larry A. Wittig 1,421. The fifth hopeful, Tracy A. Perry got 713.
On the Democratic side the order follows Zuber 571, Meiser 564, Betz 542, Schoener 496 and Wittig 462. Perry received 458.

In the Blue Mountain School District there were five seats up, four year term, with 11 candidates cross-filing.
The GOP winners were John Granito 1,146, Scott Reichert 1,129, Heather L. Gosch 1,059, David Lafko 975 and Marci Cryts-Kramer 940. The others receiving votes were Carl W. Yeich 921, Edward R. Cope 900, Alicia Keller 883, James M. Gillespie 863, and Michael Zellner 821.
On the Democratic side the top five were Reichert 531, Gosch 495, Keller 465, Cryts-Kramer 444 and Granito 441. The others were Gillespie 437, Yeich 411, Cope 410, Zellner 397, Lafko 387, and Medica 266.
The results show that Reichert, Gosch, Kramer and Granito got both nods and are virtual winners. Lafko got the GOP nod and Keller the Demo place so those two will square off in November for the fifth place on the board.
In the Mahanoy Area School District five four-year term, seats were up for nomination with nine candidates cross-filing.
On the GOP side the top five are David Kurzinsky 496, Nancy M. Boyle 472, John F. Erbe 388, Michael J. Mistishen 336, and Beth S. Bradberry 334. The other votes totals were Teckla McCabe 332, Thomas Bashinsky 318, Anthony J. Miller 246 and Michael Van Allen 163.
On the Democratic side the top five finishers were Kurzinsky 642, Boyle 570, Bashinsky 461, Mistishen 458, and Erbe 456. Other totals were Bradberry 408, McCabe 357, Miller 300 and Van Allen 202.
Kurzinsky, Boyle, Bradberry and Mistishen got both nods and are virtual winners. Erbe on the GOP side and Bashinsky on the Demo side, will battle it out in November.
