Will CL expand?

Colonial League athletic directors and principals voted to move forward with looking at expansion or just staying status quo at a league meeting held on Thursday at Green Pond Country Club.

Brian Geist, Northern Lehigh Athletic Director and League President, confirmed that the league will decide on one of two options at its next meeting in late May."We have decided to move forward by either adding four teams or by keeping the status quo," Geist said. That basically killed the application submitted by the Mountain Valley Conference to join the Colonial League in its entirety."It's been a year-long process," added Geist. "We've looked at the size of the schools, the endless travel which is an important part of the league, what it would do to divisions and what kind of impact it would have on the existing league playoffs."Some of the schools that have shown an interest in joining the league as full-time members in the past are Lehighton, Pius X of Roseto and associate members Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg and Moravian Academy. Schuylkill League member Jim Thorpe has also been a school that has been mentioned as one that the league would possibly consider if it decides to excpand.
