Tamaqua firefighters earn Fire Officer II certificates

Eight members of the Tamaqua Fire Department have earned their Fire Officer II certificates. The purpose of the 48-hour Fire Officer II program is to identify emergency service personnel who demonstrate knowledge and skills competency related to fire officer ship. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications identifies the minimum requirements for a person at the second level of progression. A person certified at the Fire Officer II level will have demonstrated the ability to perform the tasks at the supervisory level.
