EPA approves water main replacement

Published March 15. 2011 05:00PM

Nesquehoning Borough Water Authority met with the absence of members Bill Hausman and supervisor Mark Lopata.

Bills were approved and the transfer of funds took place.

Under correspondence the Environmental Protection Agency approved the water main replacement. They closed out the paperwork on a grant regarding water main replacements on Railroad Street, near the fire company, and Mill Street.

Attorney Robert Yurchak, solicitor, pointed out that he inquired about the new state mandated residential sprinkler system on new homes. It was mentioned that the bill may be repealed and the authority will wait for further information.

The heavy rain washed out parts of the road going to the Fourth Hollow. The road leading to the water tank was also damaged.
