Dear Editor:

I would like to personally thank all the service men and women (THANK YOU), since I was not ALLOWED to by marching in the parade with my daughter's Girl Scout troop.When it comes to honoring our service men and women, I don't think that you can have too many participants.I am a registered volunteer with the Girl Scouts and because I brought my "SON" in a stroller I was told by a leader that we could not march with the Girl Scouts. I was told that we could walk on the sidewalk. This is not the first time that family members have been denied the privilege of marching with their scout.The Girl Scout Law says the scout should be, "honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what they say and do." It also states that scouts should respect themselves, others, and authority. Does the "NO TAG-A-LONG" policy support the Girl Scout Law?Does not allowing my infant son in the parade with me and the scouts show respect for others? Is it courageous, friendly, helpful or considerate?Next year, I think I will ask my military family members, who fought for our freedoms, to march with my Girl Scout. I think all the Girl Scouts should bring a military person with them to march by their side on Memorial Day.Patricia Stahl-CliffordNew Ringgold
