Stream runoff property owner's responsibility, authority determines

During the monthly Nesquehoning Borough Authority's Water meeting, more conversation took place on a letter received from Robert and Sheree Strauss of Padua Avenue in New Columbus on a water run-off.

Authority's engineer Ron Tirpak informed the borough that this is an active stream and it would be an involved process to do something about it as the Strauss's request. He said it is the property owner's responsibility to do something about it and the the authority should not take any responsibility. Solicitor Robert Yurchak will send the Strauss's a letter advising them on the decision. In other business the authority adopted the Water shut-off changes. The authority has insurance under Byrant Insurance and received a letter from Balliet Insurance of Nesquehoning. Since Balliet was invited to the meeting, but did not attend, the decision to switch was tabled until the August meeting. Balliet will be invited to attend to air his proposal along with a price. The authority also approved the bills for $21,624.16.
