Downtown Tamaqua was disrupted for about 30 minutes Saturday afternoon due to malfunctioning railroad crossing gates located on East Broad Streeet, adjacent to the Five Points intersection, that were stuck in the down position. This happened twice on Saturday. Officials state it might be related to the integration of the new lights at the Five Points intersection.

Tamaqua Fire Police helped Tamaqua Police control traffic on West Broad St. (SR209) and the Five Points intersection.
