The Second Annual Tamaqua New Age Expo will gather experts in the field of spirituality, cleansing and health.

The event is free to the public and will take place on Saturday, August 20, at the Tamaqua Community Center, formerly the Mohn Building, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., organized and sponsored by Tamaqua residents Damian and Kerri Quick.

The inaugural event took place last year at the same location and proved popular, prompting the organizers to plan for an even larger gathering the second time around.

"The purpose of the event is to introduce people to a more holistic and spiritual way of life. There are many branches belonging to the same tree," says Damian Quick.

The Expo will feature: Charis Malloy Brown, M.S., holistic health consultant and author of 'Journal of a Starseed;' Magick and Miracles by Krista McKeon, offering Shiatsu massage, Reiki healings & classes and rain drop therapy.

Kate Bee Moon of Moon Shaman Ministries will demonstrate Shamanic Reiki, crystal healings and intuitive readings.

Also on hand will be Larissa Miller's 'It Works!,' all-natural body wraps, nutritional supplements and anti-aging skin care to promote health inside and out.

Emporium of Curious Goods, Jim Thorpe, will be on hand offering some of their unique merchandise; Swartz's Etchings and More will be showcased, with artist Ray Swartz, who specializes in etchings on granite and agate, stone carvings and stone jewelry, pet portraits and monuments.

The Expo will include Mystic Dream: Besides my Readings, an event coordinator of New Age expos and psychic fairs. Mystic Dream has been doing professional readings since 1983 using Tarot, Runes, Angel Cards, and also act as a medium. She has been a guest reader at the Angel Heart Spiritualist Church and has worked with the Wayne County, New York, Sheriff's Department in an unofficial capacity.

Also on hand will be I Said Read Me bookstore, Tamaqua; Ocean's Away Spa, Schuylkill Haven, offering a variety of health services; Stained Glass Works, LLC; and Andrea Brock Healing. Brock is an internationally recognized shamanic healer, Reiki master, ordained minister and certified spiritual healer with her own heart-centered healing practice.

Merchandise will be offered from Avalon in the Schuylkill Mall; plus LJ Boncore, a local artist, will have her work on display, including jewelry; also on hand will be Billy Edley, intuitive reader using bones; Market America and their natural health products; Purple Sage Healing, a multimodality energy healer and healing with compassion featuring master healer Mareen Norman, who promotes safe, nonintrusive, energizing, calming, soothing, healing on all levels.

The Expo will feature Louise Fontaine, an energy worker who's studied various healing energy modalities. She is a Karuna Reiki master teacher and has studied Reiki, matrix energetics, IET, magnified healing and The Reconnection with Dr. Eric Pearl. She belongs to the Collective, a supernatural investigation team. The Collective is a collective group of white-lights who investigate paranormal and supernatural incidents. The group has investigated all forms of phenomenal occurrences such asintelligent hauntings, residual hauntings, and portal hauntings, non-human hauntings (poltergeists), and helping lost souls to cross over.

One of Fontaine's fields of expertise is being able to interpret the hands, which, she says, is more than just doing traditional palmistry. What started off as a hobby 46 years ago has now expanded to helping people deal with core issues.

The Expo will include: Steve Platko, an energy worker who's studied various energy modalities like Reiki, matrix energetics, magnified healing and is a Reiki master teacher. He performs psychic surgery, removes attachments from a person and does mind melts. He also does house cleansings besides doing dimensional work.

The show will include Lapala Naturals, bath and body products and henna tattooes, and Once Bitten-handcrafted jewelry, including hair blings and pet jewelry.

For those with an appetite, food from Caribbean Cruise will be available.

The New Age movement is a spiritual way of life for those who see spirituality as something universal, not boxed or pre-packaged. It is a free-flowing spiritual movement among a network of believers and practitioners who share somewhat similar beliefs and practices. The movement encompasses a wide range of ideas, including personal spiritual growth and self-realization, holistic medicine, including the use of crystals for healing, reincarnation, astrology, and the mystical energies said to be induced by pyramids. Although called New Age, some of the concepts date back thousands of years.

"We wanted to bring something positive to the area and we had such a great response from our show in January that we wanted to do it again," says Kerri Quick. "You don't need to ascribe to any particular belief to attend, nor do you have to agree or believe in everything we will be offering. All are welcome!"
