Cooperative Extension program scheduled to be held in Monroe

The 2011 NE Horticulture January 2 & 2 Program: Core & Cat. Ornamentals," sponsored by the Penn State Cooperative Extension, will be held in Monroe County on Thursday, Jan. 13.

Ornamental Care will feature "Controlling Diseases on Rhododendrons and Azaleas," while core pesticide applicator programs will include "PDA Update for 2011" and "Chemsweep 2011: Pa's Unique Pesticide Disposal Program." The program will be held at the cooperative's office in Stroudsburg from 1:45-4 p.m.Pesticide applicator credits have been assigned for two category 5, 6, 18 and 23 credits and two core credits."Rhododendrons and Azaleas" will provide an overview of key woody diseases affecting these widely-used plants and control options. Alan Michael, Dauphin County Ornamental Horticulture Extension, Penn State Extension, will be the presenter."PDA Update" will be an overview of the 2011 regulations and how they would affect applicators. It will be presented by Chris Santore of the Pa.
