State police at the Frackville barracks said driving under the influence of alcohol charges are pending against Michael A. Wilson, 35, of Girardville, as a result of a one-vehicle crash at 4:05 a.m. Dec. 29 at Second and A streets in Girardville.

Police said he was driving a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am south on Second Street and was attempting to turn left onto A Street when he failed to negotiate the turn and the vehicle struck a Verizon utility pole. Police said they detected a strong odor of alcohol on his. He was transporter to the Schuylkill medical Center, Pottsville, for a blood test to determine his blood-alcohol level.
