The driver of a vehicle that crashed at 12:49 a.m. Dec. 20 in Polk Township, Monroe County, fled the scene but was later apprehended by officials at his residence.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said Alan M. Phillips, 21, of Effort, was driving a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee south on Rt. 209 in the township when the vehicle traveled off the roadway at the intersection with Route 534 and struck the front porch piller of a residence.Police said he fled the scene in a different vehicle before being located at his home.Neither he nor a passenger, Antonia M. Ramondini, 53, of Effort, were injured.Police said the man will be arrested for Motor Vehicle Code violations.
