Two persons hurt in Rt. 534 mishap

Two persons were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Dec. 15 at 10:02 p.m. on Rt. 534 in Polk Township.

Sustaining minor injuries were Joseph Randolph, 18, of Effort, the driver of one of the vehicles, and Linda A. Ponzo, 53, of Albrightsville, who was operating the wecond vehicle.State police at the Lehighton barracks said Randolph was driving a 1990 Acura southbound of the snow-covered highway. Police said he was traveling too fast for conditions when he lost control of the car, which spun in a clockwise direction and struck the guardrail on the western shoulder of the road. The car then traveled back across the southbound lane, entered the northbound lane and struck a 2007 Hyundai Sonata driven by Ponzo, who was northbound at the time. After the headon crash, both vehicles came to rest in the northbound land.Two passengerd with Randolph, Ryan Werle, 19, of Effort, and Bryanna Nesfeder, 15, of Kresgeville, were uninjured in the mishap.Police said Randolph will be cited as a result of the crash.
