A pedestrian was struck by a car and injured in Schuylkill County. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 5:09 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, along SR61 in Norwegian Township.

Troopers said Arlene R. Murphy, 84, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 2011 Buick Century northbound on the shoulder of the road when she struck Leonard A. Sweet, 58, of Shenandoah, who was walking along the shoulder.Sweet was flown by PennStar helicopter to the Reading Medical Center, for treatment of injuries. Murphy was not injured.Troopers said Murphy was cited for careless driving.
