Palmerton Area High and Junior High School invites all to holiday concert

The Palmerton Area High School and Junior High Music Department will present their annual Holiday Concert this Thursday evening, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Instrumental music students in grades seven and eight and the Junior High Chorus will perform first, and will be followed by a performance of the High School Concert Band. There will also be small ensembles and vocal soloists from the high school.

Included in the junior high portion of the program will be instrumental performances of "The Little Drummer Boy," "Angels We Have Heard On High," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Patapan," and the "Hallelujah Chorus." The Junior High Chorus will present a varied seasonal program including, among others, "A Merry Medley for Christmas," "Snow Beautiful Snow," "Hanukkah Shalom," and "Reindeer Boogie." Eduardo Azzati will be the accompanist for the chorus.The High School Concert Band will present a very diverse selection for the evening, including "By Dawn's Early Light" by David Shaffer, "Jamaican Gems," "Three Czech Folk Songs," and the "Best of the Beatles." Seasonal selections will include "Hanukkah," "Festival of Lights," "Themes from the Nutcracker," and "A Jingle Bells Fantasy." Juniors Kalyn Lehr, Lydia Anthony, and Monica Handwerk will offer a flute trio on "Joy To The World." Vocal soloists will be junior Lydia Anthony and senior Billy Heinick, who will sing the beloved "O Holy Night" and the hit song from Polar Express, "Believe," respectively. The two will also combine for a rendition of "Baby It's Cold Outside."Junior High Director Mrs. Carole Burkhardt and High School Director Mr. Thomas Heinick invite all to join the students in an enjoyable evening of music. The 7 p.m. concert is open to the public, and admission is free. Refreshments will follow in the lobby.
