The Slatington Women's Club announced that Lauren Oertner is October's Girl of the Month.

Lauren is a member of the Cross Country team, Basketball team, runs track, and is a member of Student Council (Vice-President), Interact, SADD, and Honor Society.She has a three-time varsity letter in three sports (basketball, cross country, track), Honor Society, Penn State Lehigh Valley Leadership Conference Nominee, Distinguished Athlete Award from the United States Marine Corps.When not studying or involved in student activities, she enjoys spending time with my family and friends.Her future plans are to attend Misericordia, Marywood, or Bloomsburg University and major in speech-language pathology. Also, she intends on playing basketball at the college that she attends.Lauren is the daughter of David and Beatrice Oertner of Slatington. She has a sister, Aimee and a brother, Andrews.
