An elderly Schuylkill County man was jailed on sexual assault charges that stem from alleged offenses that occurred over 10 years ago.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Robert Eugene Barry, 76, of 31 W. Railroad St., Donaldson, Frailey Township, was arraigned before District Judge Carol Pankake, of Tremont, on charges of attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors and indecent exposure. Barry was placed in the county prison after failing to post $75,000 straight cash bail.Troopers said the alleged incidents occurred at various times from 1990-1998 in Schuylkill County and various locations throughout the state. Troopers said three females are the victims and all were under the age of 13 at the time of the incidents.A preliminary hearing for Barry is scheduled for Dec. 23 at 10:45 a.m. before Pankake.
