Deer and bus collide in Carbon

A deer and a bus collided along a Carbon County roadway recently. It was one of two crashes reported by state police at Fern Ridge.

Troopers said Judith a. Sitarchyk, 57, of Lehighton, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet bus northbound on SR903 in Penn Forest Township, about 6:45 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to avoid the animal and struck it with the front of bus. Sitarchyk and her passenger, Diana M. Rimbey, 60, also of Lehighton, were not injured.A two vehicle crash was reported about 2:48 p.m. on Nov. 16 along SR209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.Troopers said Nathan C. Green, 18, of Kunkletown, and Joshua Goosman, 32, of Kresgeville, were both southbound. Troopers said Goosman stopped to make a left turn into a parking lot and Green failed to see him stopping. The front of Green's 1989 Ford Ranger struck the rear of Goosman's 2007 Chevrolet Express.Green and his passenger, Aimee M. Ziegler, 27, of Saylorsburg, were both injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. Goosman and two passengers, Justin L. Goosman, 29, of Albrightsville, and Jason P. Monks, 30, of Emmaus, were all not injured.Troopers cited Green for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
