Schuylkill crashes are investigated

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on four crashes probed by troopers recently on Schuylkill County roadways.

A crash occurred about 7:20 p.m. on Nov. 11 along SR61 in North Manheim Township, near Adamsdale Road. Troopers said Jennifer L. Stone, 27, of Auburn, was driving a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 southbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to stop and the front of the car struck the deer. After impact the car coasted down the hill and came to rest along the berm.Stone and an 11-year-old female with her were not injured.A Schuylkill County driver escaped injury in a crash that occurred about 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, along Spring Road, just west of Kalmia Road, in Porter Township. Troopers said Todd E. Schwalm, 36, of Muir, was driving a 1994 Dodge Dakota pickup truck eastbound when it left the road and traveled about 38 feet before hitting a ditch and coming to rest.Schwalm said he had fallen asleep prior to the crash.Troopers said Schwalm will be cited.A one-vehicle crash occurred about 3:30 a.m. Saturday along SR895 in South Manheim Township. Troopers said Nathaniel E. Decker, 27, of Summit Station, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier westbound and negotiating a left turn and swerved to avoid a deer that entered the road.After swerving, the car traveled across the eastbound lane and struck a utility pole along the berm with the passenger side front door. After impact the car went down a 50-foot embankment and came to rest in a stream.Decker was not injured. He was cited for driving at an (un) safe speed.A one-vehicle crash occurred about 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14, at the intersection of Zion Church Road and TR875, in Eldred Township. Troopers said Brittney L. Bowers, 20 of Shamokin, was eastbound on Zion Church Road and failed to negotiate a sharp right curve at the intersection. Her 1997 Chevrolet Blazer went about eight feet off the north side of the road and struck a fruit tree in an orchard.Bowers was not injured but the Blazer had to be towed from the scene.Troopers cited Bowers for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
