A Schuylkill County driver is facing numerous charges, including leaving the scene of an accident.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said about 12:02 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, Derrick I. Sargent, 25, of New Philadelphia, was driving a 1995 Buick Century northbound on SR209 in East Norwegian Township at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a slight left turn in the road.The car traveled off the east berm and in an attempt to regain control, Sargent slid the vehicle sideways across the southbound lanes where it then struck a utility pole and aluminum bus stop shelter. The car then overturned.Sargent fled the scene but was later contacted by troopers. Troopers said he is facing numerous motor vehicle code violations.
