Teen arrested for setting Jim Thorpe silk mill fire

Jim Thorpe police announced that a 14-year-old male has been charged with setting the fire that damaged the Old Silk Mill on Silk St. last Friday morning.

Det. Lee Marzen said the teen has been charged with arson-endangering persons, reckless burning, causing and risking a catastrophe and criminal trespass as well as criminal conspiracy charge for his involvement in setting the fire.The juvenile was placed in a detention center pending action by the county juvenile probation office and county court.Marzen said more arrests are pending.The fire was discovered about 5:45 a.m. When firemen arrived the blaze was found on the second floor. The flames were quickly extinguished by firefighters and no injuries were reported.
