A 200-bed emergency hospital unit owned by the Carbon County Civil Defense is being moved from Lansford to the county home near Weatherly. County Civil Defense Director William Schmidt of Jim Thorpe reported that the transfer is being made to give the northern section of the county the benefit of having an emergency hospital unit in the event of a disaster. The unit is presently stored in former main office building of the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company, Lansford. The second unit is in storage in the county court house.
