Downed tree knocks out power in Franklin Twp.

More than 200 customers of PPL Electric were without power just after 10 a.m. Monday after a large pine tree felled power lines along Indian Hill Road in Franklin Township, Carbon County. High winds are possibly the reason the tree fell, closing a busy Indian Hill Road for an undetermined amount of time. Thousands of residents living in developments off state route 903 in Penn Forest township utilize the road for access to the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Rt. 248 to the Lehigh Valley. PPL Electric could not supply officials with an estimated time of arrival for work crews. Franklin Township fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down Indian Hill road at Overlook Drive and Spruce Street.
