Methodist ChargeHarvest Home will be observed on Sunday, Nov. 7, by the two congregations of the Coaldale /Summit Hill United Methodist Charge.The service in the Summit Hill church will be held at 9 a.m., followed by the service at 11 o'clock in the Coaldale church.The Rev. Burgess Gordon will officiate at both services.Members of both congregations are asked to bring canned goods and nonperishable food items for the service.The items will be donated to the local food bank.The adult Sunday school will be held in the Coaldale church at 10 a.m.On Sunday, Nov. 14, the charge will hold a combined worship service at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale church.The district superintendent will be present for the combined service. Following the service, the district superintendent will conduct a Charge Conference at noon, with both churches participating.There will be no worship service in the Summit Hill church on Nov. 14.Legion to meetThe monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held Monday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.Borough councilThe monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held Monday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will be in charge of the meeting.St. Paul LutheranMembers of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will participate in "Clean Up Day" on Saturday, Nov. 6.Beginning at 10 a.m., volunteers are needed to do some house cleaning inside and outside of the church.Persons interested in participating should call Brian at (570) 645-7564 for additional information.Seeking informationThe Summit Hill Water Authority is setting up an emergency notification system and needs residents' phone numbers, especially residents whose number is unlisted or those who use cell service.Residents are asked to call the authority office at (570) 645-3223 to provide this vital information. They can also stop in the water authority office at the borough hall during business hours.All information received will be kept confidential.CoaldaleVeterans' serviceA service honoring veterans will be conducted at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at First Congregational Church, Coaldale.Preceding the service at approximately 9:50 a.m., a slide program of pictures of area veterans will be presented. The Community Choir will sing during the service.Sunday School will follow at 10 a.m.Other activities at the church include the following:The church board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8.Harvest Home will begin Nov. 7 and continue until Nov. 21. Nonperishable foods will be donated by church members to be distributed to those in need.Samaritan's Purse gifts for needy children around the world will be accepted until Nov. 14.
