With just one week remaining in the regular season, as many as five TIMES NEWS area teams could still qualify for postseason play.

Northern Lehigh and Pleasant Valley already have spots in the District 11 playoffs secured.With a win over Palmerton on Friday night, the Bulldogs will be the No. 1 seed in the four-team Class AA field. Even with a loss, they will be either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed, which means that they are guaranteed a home playoff game next weekend.The Bears are currently ranked second in the eight-team Class AAAA field. Pleasant Valley can finish no worse than fourth, which means they have also secured a home game for the opening round of the District 11 playoffs.Jim Thorpe is the final area team that is guaranteed a postseason berth, but unlike Northern Lehigh and Pleasant Valley, the Olympians still don't know if they will be in the District 11 playoffs or the Eastern Conference playoffs.Thorpe currently trails Pine Grove by 20 points in the race for the fourth and final D-11 Class AA berth. The Olympians will need a win over Lehighton and a Pine Grove loss to powerful Line Mountain to qualify.If Jim Thorpe fails to make Districts, it will be in the Eastern Conference Division II playoffs.Two other area teams Northwestern and Lehighton are on the Eastern Conference playoff bubble.The Tigers need to beat Catasauqua on Friday to earn a spot in the Division II playoffs. They would be unlikely to get a berth if they lose to the Rough Riders.The Indians will need to defeat Jim Thorpe and have three other results go their way to qualify for the EC Division III playoffs.With the 2010 campaign winding down, OVERTIME is highlighting several impressive season totals. Included among them are receiving, scoring and passing numbers that are among the best in several decades.***********MAKING HIS POINTS … Cody Remaley scored four more touchdowns in Northern Lehigh's 49-7 victory over Catasauqua on Friday night. That brings his total to 180 points this season.It is the second straight season that Remaley has scored at least 180 points.
