Deer-vehicle crash in Schuylkill

A deer and a vehicle collided in a Schuylkill County crash. It was one of two crashes investigated by state police at Frackville on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Troopers said Gregory M. Wilson, 21, of Girardville, was operating a 2009 Dodge Caliber southbound on SR813 in Wayne Township, about 6:20 a.m. when a deer entered the road in front of him. Wilson attempted to avoid the deer but could not and the front struck the animal.Wilson was not injured.The second crash occurred about 6:05 a.m. along SR4007 in Cass Township. Troopers said Jerry Walton, 44, of Dallas, Luzerne County, was driving a 2009 Peterbilt truck northbound when it was rear-ended by a 2002 Hyundai Sante Fe driven by Robert G. Coleman, 39, of Pottsville. Coleman was injured and taken to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment. Walton was not injured. Damages were severe to the front of the Hyundai and moderate to the driver's side rear wheels of the truck.Troopers cited Coleman for careless driving.
