Speeding stop leads to DUI count

A speeding stop in Schuylkill County early on Friday, Oct. 29, has led to a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) pending against the driver.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Michael Swenson, 53, of Auburn, was observed driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra northbound on SR61 in the area of Race St. in Port Clinton, about 12:10 a.m. exceeding the posted 35 miles-per-hour speed limit. His vehicle was also observed crossing over the fog line along the east berm.Troopers stopped Swenson and found him to be under the influence. He failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test.The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers said.
