CATASAUQUA - Every scholastic football fan in the area knows that Northern Lehigh's Cody Remaley is a great football player.

Just how great, actually, is he?In Friday night's match-up against Colonial League foe Catasauqua, it took the 5-10, 185-pound senior tailback about 20 seconds to score two touchdowns and pretty much sealed the 49-7 win for the Bulldogs. Remaley took a 64-yard pass from Dylan Hofmann and a 40-yard run in for paydirt and put his team up 14-0 with 9:41 left in the first quarter.In fact, the locals only needed three plays from scrimmage to go up 21-0, after Remaley added another scoring run for 81 yards with just under six minutes left in the first.On its next possession, the Northern Lehigh offense put together a five-play, 52-yard scoring drive, as Jake Kern ran in from the six for a 28-0 lead.On its next possession, the Bulldogs made it five unanswered scores with senior running back Matt Gill running in from the five. All that happened in the first 16 minutes of the contest."When you have kids that execute, it's a pretty neat thing to watch as a coach," said Northern Lehigh mentor Joe Tout. "It's just amazing when you have good kids that work hard."The level of work didn't slow, as the Bulldogs added another score before half. This time, Hofmann found Kern, who raced the 41 yards for the score. Channing Shiffert booted his sixth of seven PATs for the 42-0 lead.In the second half, the clock ran throughout and the Bulldogs tacked on their final score of the night. Remaly closed out the four-score night with a 48-yard TD to make the score 49-0.The Roughies avoided a shutout when Alex Brown scored on a 21-yard run."This was a really big win for us," Remaley insisted. "This is (Catty's) house, it's senior night, homecoming, and every time we came here in the past, they'd always play us tough. We faced a tough team tonight again and it was an all-out brawl."Remaley refers to just how physical the game was, as the score clearly doesn't indicate how hard hits were and trench war of opposing lines."It was a really intense game, physically," Remaley added. "Our coaches were stressing to us all week just how physical Catty would play us in the past and tonight was no different."Despite the offensive output by the locals, Coach Tout was pleased with the defense a lot, as well."I think our defense got better for the third week in a row tonight," Tout commented. "We really are starting to peak and things are coming together for us at the right time of the season."
