Richard "Dick" Hoffman, Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company Police captain, was named "Monroe County Fire Policeman of the Year" for 1987. He ws presented with the award by Blaine Rice, president of the Monroe County Fire Police Association, during the group's monthly meeting in Kresgeville. Hoffman was honored for the many calls to which he responds as well as his dedication. Also involved in the presentation was the association's secretary, Mel Teisch.
