Halloween with Robb Taylor

On Saturday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m., Robb Taylor, multitalented musician, performer and children's book author, will host a free Halloween Party at the Dimmick Library Friends House, (formerly the annex), 58 Broadway, Jim Thorpe. Taylor will read from his book "Mr. Mischief," a Halloween story. The party is geared to children ages 5-8, and they are invited to come in costume. There will be games and refreshments.Taylor grew up in foster homes, attended the Church Farm School and later graduated from West Chester University with a degree in theatre. Through the challenges of his early life experiences, he developed an understanding of the importance of empathy and compassion in relationships and these themes are the basis for much of his work. He went on to a career in writing, performing, and teaching acting and self improvement seminars.The Friends of the Dimmick Library welcome Taylor to speak about his books and to host the Halloween event. For more information call the Dimmick Library at (570) 325-2131.Halloween paradeThe Jim Thorpe Halloween parade will be held Sunday, Oct. 31, starting at 4 p.m. Parade participants will begin to form at 2nd and Center streets, at 3:30 p.m. The parade will end at Memorial Park, where participants will be treated to refreshments. The judges stand will be located at St. Joseph's Church, North Street.Party heldThe youngsters of the Sunday School of St. John's Lutheran Church, Heights, held their annual Halloween party on Monday evening. Prizes were awarded to the following children, most original, Ava and Tommy Schafer, Bo-Beep and a sheep; prettiest, Colton Steigerwalt, snowman; ugliest, Ryan McArdle, unknown witch and TJ Morris, Scream; funniest, Matthew Confer, monkey; and judges choice, Kylee Adamitis, mouse.
