A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 3:10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, along Condor Lane, in Cass Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said John J Smulley, 25, of Pottsville, was driving a 1983 Ford F150 truck eastbound when the truck left the road on the right side and struck a brick and metal fence with its right front. After impact the truck continued on and struck the front of the residence at 813 Forest Lane and a mailbox in the front. The truck came to rest in the yard at that location.Troopers indicated Smulley is facing a DUI charge as a result of the accident.Troopers also reported investigating a crash about 8:12 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, along SR501, in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Kevin C. Freed, 48, of Pine Grove, was southbound in a 1999 Dodge Dakota and climbing a uphill grade while negotiating a slight left curve. He lost control of the pickup truck on the wet road. The truck slid off the road and struck the guide rail on the right side. The force of the impact ruptured the right front tire and broke the right front suspension.Freed was not injured but the truck had to be towed from the scene.
