Monroe crashes

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two crashes investigated by officers recently, including one in which the driver fled the scene.

On Monday, Oct. 25, about 6:48 p.m. officers responded to a crash that occurred in the area of SR115 and Interstate 80 overpass in Tobyhanna Township. Police said Christopher Macias-Delvalle, of Stroudsburg, was turning left onto 115 from the interstate west off ramp when his vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Alejandro Portillo-Peraza, of Jim Thorpe, who was traveling south on 115.Portillo-Peraza and passenger, Dino Portillo, also of Jim Thorpe, were taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment of injuries. Macias-Delvalle and two passengers, Evan Reese Vanco and Weston Elden Curtis, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, were not injured.The hit-and-run crash was reported on Saturday, Oct. 23, about 6:22 a.m. along SR423, south of SR196, in Coolbaugh Township. Police said upon arrival at the scene they found a silver BMW into a wooded power line easement along the north side of 423. The driver fled the scene.Police determined the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons while northbound at a high rate of speed. The car struck several large boulders and rolled over numerous times causing major damages to the car.Officers searched the area woods for an hour in an attempt to find the driver, but did not. The investigation into the crash is continuing, police added.
