Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will celebrate Harvest Home Sunday during the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services on Oct. 24. Mike Carroll and Sen. Patrick M. Browne are offering free influenza vaccinations for those 18 years of age and up only, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 29, at the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert.It will be a first come-first served basis as supply is limited.Immunizations are offered by Blue Mountain Health System, and provided by the PA Department of Health. For more information call 1-866-247-2776.World Community DayMonroe County's unit of Church Women United will hold its World Community Day on Friday, Nov. 5, at the East Stroudsburg Methodist Church, beginning at 10:30 a.m.Refreshments will be provided by the UMC Women.The program is Building the Beloved Community.Reservations can be made by calling Betty at (570) 629-0649.Coat driveThe Supplemental Family Resource Center of Effort United Methodist Church is collecting clean, gently worn (no holes or rips) winter coats of all sizes for its clients.They may be delivered to the church during regular office hours.The coats will be given away the first Saturday in November.Free eye examsMonroe County residents who meet income guidelines and are without health insurance and do not qualify for medical assistance have the possibility of getting free eye examinations.In partnership with a grant from the Blue Ribbon Foundation of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania, The Center for Vision Loss Eye Care Clinic at Burnley Workshop in Snydersville is offering free exams to folks who qualify and can provide proof of residency.Applications are being accepted in person or by mail by contacting the Center for Vision Loss at 4215 Manor Drive, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.Examinations are scheduled for Tuesdays between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and appointments are required.For more information, call (570) 992-7787.
