The South Schuylkill Garden Club will meet Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m., at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Dock Street, Schuylkill Haven. The evening will include a presentation from members of the Frog Hollow Environmental Center Board of Directors Linda Collins, Ann Irving, Shirley McCord, Helen Moyer and Jeanne Zulich. Frog Hollow's 28 acres of native woods and wetlands, located west of Friedensburg, is managed by the South Schuylkill Garden Club with the help of the Elsie Krammes Trust Fund.The public is welcome to attend and participate in the educational and social session. New members are welcome.The South Schuylkill Garden Club is a member of District II/III of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania and the National Garden Clubs Inc. For more information, contact president Carol Haldeman at (570) 345-2423.Rush tax officeThe office of Rush Township Tax Collector Dolores Walck will be closed Oct. 20 as the tax collector will attend the Township Officials Convention. For the remainder of October, the office will be open Tuesdays from 9-10 a.m. and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. November and December hours will be by appointment only. Residents may also mail their payments to 117 Cumberland Ave., Tamaqua.St. John UCCThe Rev. James Greaser will be the guest preacher at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Nursery care is available during the service. Sunday school classes meet at 11 a.m. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship.The weekly service is broadcast on radio station WLSH, AM1410, at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 6 p.m.Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Bell Choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.Calvary UMThe Rev. Walter Hill will offer the message at Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. The service will be under the direction of lay leader Terry Gerber. Special music will be presented by Allie Gerber. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, an evening of praise, worship and Bible study will begin at 6:30 p.m.Wednesday prayer and praise services are held at 7 p.m.Primitive MethodistThe Rev. Rodney Hall will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Primitive Methodist Church. The service will include a children's sermon. Nursery care is available. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.First Steps, a support group for mothers of young children, meets the first Tuesday of each month, from 6-8 p.m., at the church.
