Hogging the road

The operator of a tractor trailer that was hauling live pigs escaped serious injury Wednesday morning when he rolled his rig along the exit ramp of Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. The incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. as the driver was traveling east and attempted to exit at the 177-mile marker to gain access to the turnpike. The unit rolled onto its right side. Responding were the Albrightsville and Kidder Township fire companies. State police at Fern Ridge are investigating. It was reported one pig escaped and several more were killed in the crash.
