Called a woman of action who improved the quality of life in Carbon County, Agnes McCartney was given a magnificent sendoff when 350 persons gathered at Jim Thorpe's Memorial Hall to toast the 30-year veteran county servant and wish her well on her retirement. She was saluted by county and state officials, co-workers, friends, and family. Her son, Tom McCartney, senior vice president of Caesars Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, introduced members of the family in attendance.
