Council considering suspending parking on Williams Avenue

At Walnutport Council's workshop meeting Thursday night Councilman Lamar Lauer said that Council is thinking about making the East side of Williams Avenue between Fifth and New streets no parking.

"It's really tight through there," Lauer said. "It gets wider after that."In other business, Councilman Matthew Newhard said that a survey was done on the war memorial property on Washington Street. The Centennial Committee will be having a meeting coming up to discuss ideas, which they will then bring in front of Council.Council also worked on Walnutport's budget for next year. Councilman Michael Gaston said that they're either going to have to start cutting expenses or raising taxes."We're not growing anymore. That's what's hurting us. All the expenses are going up," Gaston said.Secretary Annette Lacko reminded everyone that there will be no meeting on Nov. 11. There will only be one meeting next month held on Nov. 4. Council also made a last call for applications for the newly reinstated Recreation Board. They're accepting applications until Nov. 30. You must be a resident of Walnutport and a registered voter.
