Welsh Song Fest set for next month

The 52 Annual Welsh Song Festival "Gymanfa Ganu" of Slatington, will be held Sunday, Nov. 14, at the United Presbyterian Church, 6750 Route 873, Slatington (located 3 miles north of Schnecksville, between Schnecksville and Slatington).

A Welsh Gymanfa Ganu is a unique cultural and ethnic event with traditional Welsh Hymns sung in Welsh and English. The Slatington Gymanfa Ganu draws visitors from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Maryland.One session will be held beginning at 2:30 p.m. Following the program, an enhanced "Welsh Tea" will be served in the Fellowship Hall. A donation to help defray the expenses, would be appreciated.Robert Jones of New Hartford, New York returns as the conductor. Also returning is organist, Robert Miller of South Portland, Maine and pianist, Anna Mary Milot, choir director/organist of United Presbyterian Church of Slatington. The featured musical group is the "Heidelberg Concert HandbellChoir" from Heidelberg Union Church, Slatington, under the direction of Jackie Laudenslager. It is expected to be a very musical and enjoyable program.Admission to the Welsh Song Festival is free, however, free will offerings will be accepted. Ample parking is available on the church grounds, which is handicap accessible.
