A new GriefShare group is forming at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, scheduled to begin weekly meetings on Oct. 6. GriefShare is a ministry to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. The Biblically based, non-denominational sessions will be held Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. for a 13-week time period.Bethany EC is located at 223 E. Anyone interested in supporting the teams is welcome to attend.Holy NameThe Holy Name Society of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will meet Thursday, at 8 p.m. Prior to the meeting, members will attend Mass at 7:30 p.m.Senior newsThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met last week with 61 members in attendance, as well as one guest, Joan Wall, and one new member, Gladys Arner. Vice President Doris Brobst conducted the business session.Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation, entitled "Watching." Secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld provided a report. August and September birthdays were celebrated at the Sept. 30 meeting. Celebrants included Kathleen Valentine, Rose Vallee, Betty Brobst, Mary Nazar, Frances Kamienski, Mary Draper, Alice Miller, Jane Tartar, Marion Shaffer, Murph Shigo, Nancy Gerber and Julia Clouser and were presented with cake and ice cream, compliments of E. Franklin Griffiths and Stephie Gerhard.The seniors meet every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the Tamaqua Community Center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.Halloween ParadeThe Tamaqua Halloween Parade will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. The rain date is Wednesday, Oct. 27.The parade will again be sponsored by the Tamaqua Lions Club, with assistance from the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce. The Tamaqua Wireless Association will again provide communication along the parade route.Entries are being accepted now for floats/motorized units and marching units. The deadline for registration is Oct. 15.Registration forms are available at the Tamaqua Area Chamber office, 114 West Broad Street.
