In trying economic times, job-seekers and businesses need a kick start. They need something that will get the economy moving in the right direction. While our local economy continues to bleed jobs, there is something right here and right now that can help kick start many opportunities. That "something" is Marcellus Shale gas production.Now, we have all read the headlines and seen the coverage on the evening news. But, you have to admit that the economic potential that Marcellus Shale has is great. It has already created thousands of jobs in Pennsylvania and looks to create tens of thousands more.I think everyone reading this paper wants to see this potential harnessed and produced without a hitch. This should include every single safety guideline that keeps our environment clean and our friends, family and neighbors living near Marcellus Shale or working with it safe and secure.However, while our lawmakers are voting on issues that will either create jobs or make them leave, let's consider the facts and work to keep the jobs flowing in Marcellus Shale. Nothing is more crazy right now than our government taxing us and companies going into debt and moving out of Pennsylvania. If we have learned nothing else, we have learned that it is high time for government to leave the job creating to the people and the companies that can do it the best.Thanks,Megan RaebelScranton, PA
