Suspicious fire destroys trailer in Tamaqua

Just before 6:30 this morning homeowners living at 68 Cherry Street in Tamaqua awoke to the smell of smoke and looked outside to see a big fireball as a trailer located only a few feet away from their home and on an adjacent lot was fully engulfed in flames. Tamaqua firefighters quickly arrived on scene and extinguished the fire before the flames could fully ignite the home or the trees hanging directly above the burning trailer. The trailer was completely destroyed in the blaze and parts of the vinyl siding at 68 Cherry St. was melted away. The trailer, which appeared to be primarily used to move scrap, was located at the rear of 63 Hunter St.. No one was injured. The incident is under investigation and is considered suspicious.
