A Monroe County woman has been charged with torching her own van.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said Sharon Shepherd, 31, of Mt. Pocono, has been charged with arson, criminal mischief and insurance fraud for an incident that occurred on July 17, about 4 a.m.According to police on the day and time stated the Mt. Pocono Fire Company was called to a vehicle fire at the Snowshoe Condominiums, located along Sterling Rd. On scene firefighters found a 2006 Chevrolet mini-van fully engulfed in flames and located about 20-feet from a building.The van was completely destroyed and the nearby condominium sustained smoke and soot damage.Through an investigation by PMRP and a state police fire marshal from the Swiftwater barracks it was determined that the fire was intentionally set.Police arrested Shepherd on Sept. 22. She was arraigned before a district judge and bail was set at $10,000 percentage. Police did not indicate if she posted the bail.
