Tamaqua driver facing DUI count

When a man jumped out of a moving car in Tamaqua on Saturday, Sept. 25, he caught the attention of Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Duarte, who was on a routine patrol.

It was 2:25 a.m. when Duarte noticed a red Jeep traveling south on North Railroad Street. As the Jeep made a left turn onto Mauch Chunk Street, a man appeared to fall from the front passenger seat, then roll on to the street. The officer stopped to render assistance, but the one time passenger said he jumped from the Jeep and was fine.Duarte then turned his attention to the driver of the Jeep, identified as Larry L. Wagner, 31, of 300 1/2 Arlington St., Tamaqua. Wagner exhibited signs of intoxication and admitted to being drunk.Wagner submitted to a portable breath test, which indicated a .142 blood alcohol content, almost twice the legal limit of .08.He was cited for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, careless driving and driving with a suspended/revoked license.
