Slatington is set to unleash its one-day fine arts, crafts and antiques sidewalk show and sale.

Sponsored by Northern Lehigh Future Focus, the sixth annual Northern Lehigh Arts Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the 500 and 600 blocks of historic Main Street. The rain date is Sunday.Arts Fest exhibitors, artists and crafters and others will be spread out along the Slatington business district.An art gallery will be set up at the Slatington Library, 650 Main Street, and will feature paintings, drawings and other various artwork from local residents and Northern Lehigh High School art students.There will be food and entertainment available throughout the day. Local guitarist Logan Bachman will perform from noon to 1 p.m. in the food court, plus hourly music entertainment will be showcased on the stage set up at the Mountainview High Rise, 550 Main Street. Performers include Mike Peters and John Ortiz, Tom Ruch and Roger Latzgo.Danielsville resident Pat Ritz will read poetry from 2-3 p.m. at the Slatington Library at 650 Main St. He will be joined by local author Jeanne LeFevre, who will read poetry and excerpts from her books, including her latest publication "Gifts At The Springhouse."Tours of three historic Slatington churches located on Second Street will be held from 1-2 p.m. The tour will start at The First Baptist Church from 1:05-1:20 p.m., move across the street to the St. John's UCC from 1:25-1:40 p.m., and conclude at St. John's Lutheran Church from 1:45 to 2 p.m.There will also be wine tasting from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Carol Kistler will stroll the grounds from 3-4 p.m., where she will make balloon sculptures.Indoor restroom facilities are available at several locations throughout the two-block Arts Fest. Free parking is available in parking lots at the northern and southern end of the 500 and 600 blocks. On-street parking is also available surrounding the festival.Robert Stettner, a member of NLFF, said the event is certain to be a big hit with visitors."The purpose of Arts Fest is to showcase local artists and their work, promote and encourage local business patronage in the Slatington business district and to give the local community an event to attend, where they can mingle with friends, as well as bring visitors into Slatington," Stettner said.Stettner said all proceeds will go toward Northern Lehigh Future Focus's community projects.
