Larry Neff/times news Evidence of the vicious storms that rolled through the region are obvious in these two scenes from Jim Thorpe. At left, the high winds collapsed a tree against a residence at 127 South Ave., causing a considerable amount of damage. The family did not stay in their home overnight due to several branches penetrating the walls, roof and ceiling of the upper floor of the wood-frame dwelling. No injuries were reported in the incident. In right photo, fire department personnel clean up a fallen tree blocking the highway as police handle traffic at the intersection of Second and North streets (Route 903).
