Conservation ClubThe Nesquehoning Conservation Club is going to try something new this month. The meeting will be an outdoor meeting at the First Hollow Reservoir on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m., weather permitting. The gate will be open and you can walk in or drive. In case of rain it will be held at the regularly scheduled time which is the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at MapleShade Meadows.Summit HillFall cleanup plansSummit Hill Borough officials have announced the schedule for the town's annual fall cleanup. It is as follows:On Thursday, Oct. 7, refuse will be picked up on the east side of town, along with Knepper's Trailer Court and East and West White Bear drives.On Tuesday, Oct. 12, refuse will be picked up on the west side of town, along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop roads.Items to be picked up include tires (no more than five), tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves. All items must have all chemicals removed from them and their doors taken off. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.Food pantry helpThe Summit Hill Lions Club assists the Summit Hill Food Pantry with the packaging and distribution of monthly food boxes to the needy in town. Help is needed to do these tasks. The following schedule for the fall will be in effect:September packing at 9 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23; delivery 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28.October packing at 9 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 21; delivery 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26.November packing at 9 a.m., Monday, Nov. 22; delivery 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23.December packing at 9 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 16; delivery 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21.Anyone available to assist with this project is asked to report to the pantry, which is located in the former St. Paul United Church of Christ.For information about the Summit Hill Food Pantry, call Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604 or Sandra Hill, 645-4617.Harvest HomeSt. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will celebrate its annual Harvest Home service on Sunday, Sept. 26. During the 10:30 a.m. worship service, members will be bringing and offering donations of nonperishable food items which will be given to the Summit Hill Food Pantry.Suggested needed items include cereal, macaroni and cheese, canned vegetables and fruits, canned tuna, sardines and salmon, spaghetti sauce, etc. The items can be placed in the box in the narthex of the church.The first day of Sunday school for the fall season will begin Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. All children are welcome.
