DUI arrests reported

Several arrests for driving under the influence (DUI) were reported by Pocono Mountain Regional police, including two that stem from traffic accidents.

Police said on Sept. 9 about 9:07 p.m. officers responded to a reported accident at the intersection of Long Pond Road and Grey Birch Lane, in Tobyhanna. Police said Tina McAndrew, 41, of Long Pond, told them she swerved her vehicle to avoid a deer and went off the road and landed in a ditch.McAndrew showed signs of intoxication and was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was placed under arrest for suspected DUI and taken to the Monroe County DUI processing center for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.On Sept. 10 about 5:36 a.m. officers responded to a accident in the parking lot of the Mount Pocono Plaza. Before police arrived the driver involved fled the scene across SR940 to the Walmart store lot. Police found the driver and identified him as Jason Lando, 29, of Tobyhanna. Lando sustained an injury in the crash and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), in East Stroudsburg. He was also found to be under the influence and submitted to a blood test at the center. The DUI charge is pending the test results.On Sept. 11 about 2:39 a.m. officers on patrol made a traffic stop on Sullivan Trail and Clearview Drive for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Maybelline Perez, 21, of Long Pond, and passenger as Nereida Santiago, 20, also of Long Pond.Perez was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. She was placed under arrest for DUI and taken to the PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.Santigao was found to have consumed alcohol and was cited for underage drinking, police added.On Sept. 9 about 1:30 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop along Woodland Drive and Summit Avenue in Pocono Summit for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Norfus Green, 55, of Pocono Summit. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was transported to the PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.On Sept. 13 at 12:36 a.m. officers on patrol observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of state routes 903 and 115 in Long Pond near the Pocono race track. A vehicle stop was made and the driver identified as Michael Donnelly, 29, of Blakeslee. Officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.Donnelly failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI of a controlled substance. Also, a vehicle search revealed marijuana found in the car. The DUI charge is pending a blood test result.
