A proposal to change the name of Jim Thorpe back to Mauch Chunk has met with opposition by the Jim Thorpe Lions Club. Mayor James Walker, prsident of the Lions, said a resolution citing the club's reasons for having the town retain the name of Jim Thorpe will be prepared for publication by James Dunbar. The meeting of the club was held in Dever's Hotel. Also on the agend, the club agreed to donate $200 to the knee-hi football program, sponsored by the Olympian Booster Club.
